Iris is using her time as artist in residence at Inglewood Arts Hub to explore the area directly surrounding the Hub, looking for inspiration in the cafes, shops and the library. At heart Iris is a suburban girl. She enjoys that in-between place that is not a hectic city nor the countryside. Something tasty to eat, great coffee, a good selection of books, lovely people to chat with, a cool shoe shop, a good bottle shop, and a wee garden centre - that is all she needs to keep her happy. Lucky for her Inglewood ticks all the boxes!

Iris creates still life artworks using library books, items borrowed from local cafes, and take-away coffee cups, among other things, to convey the joy that can be obtained without travelling far from home.

Sketching in cafes and inviting people to sit for a portrait sketch in her studio are two ways that Iris is expanding her comfort zones. Both are turning out to be very social and enjoyable endeavours. If you are interested in sitting for a portrait, feel free to email Iris via the contact form on her website: www.irisfinnart.com

Iris is working to bring together a body of work to exhibit alongside her fellow artist in residence, Rocky Lu, in June 2026.
