Inglewood Arts Hub

A group of artists who meet once a week to make art together.

Marie Baron

Marie loves the old masters but is influenced by a broad spectrum of art. Her work focuses on eyes, as "the windows of the soul".

After doing art as a child and teen, Marie kept dabbling while she worked in real estate, property management, and for BHP; married and had children, then grandchildren.

"Now I do art every possible moment. I live to do my art!" She works in two rooms at home and says "I am slowly taking over the house. My children bought me a huge easel for Christmas and now my dream project is to GO BIG!"

Marie works on at least three pieces at a time, and manages creative blocks by switching to another painting - "I have many to choose from!"

Jenny Georgy

Jenny has always been interested in arts and crafts, so when she retired painting and drawing was the obvious next step. Now her office is her art room - "it has a lot of light".

Jenny describes her practice: "I like to be authentic with realistic subjects and vibrant colours. I·have progressed from simple pictures to more detailed and realistic pieces". She is inspired by the way artists like Jason Morgan and Anna Mason use their preferred mediums. "Trying different mediums has helped me to improve my style".

The best piece of advice Jenny has received is to believe in yourself and enjoy the journey.

Pamela Pougnault

Pamela worked as an industrial chemist, librarian, and violin teacher, and has been involved in orchestras, arts, and crafts all her life.

She considers herself to be just starting her learning. The best piece of advice Pamela has received is "keep practicing every day", which she does in a crowded room at home and with the group. Through her artwork, she aims to say "enjoy life".

Pamela is motivated by reading about people and enjoying illustrated art books.

Carol Sterling

Carol's love of art began when she was a child and lived with an uncle who constantly drew. Influenced by the Impressionists, her artwork aims to convey happiness. Her dream is to continue her art - she never has a problem staying motivated. The most useful advice Carol has received is "read the history of art and never stop learning".

David Whitelaw

After a career in podiatry, David now has more time to dedicate to developing his art practice. He works at his kitchen table and in the art room where the group meets each week.

To overcome creative blocks, David switches to outdoor pursuits, and to stay motivated he researches - his biggest influences are artists throughout history. The best piece of advice David has received is to "relax, enjoy, and don't try too hard".
