Kelly Ha (extended residency)

Image: Kelly Ha

We welcome back Kelly Ha for a second residency until September 2023.

Kelly is a local artist with a background in digital illustration and design. Her work explores the interaction between the natural and urban worlds through expressive colour and light.

She is working with Dr Jacob John on the Diatom Flora of Australia series, a taxonomic guide to Australia’s freshwater diatoms. The third volume, Diatoms of Arid Australia, received the 2022 Gerald W. Prescott Award from the Phycology Association of America.

During the first half of her residency at the hub, Kelly produced a series of miniature paintings that explored the streets of Inglewood. Her current term will continue to focus on documenting Inglewood's streets with several works.

She will run beginner gouache classes and hold an open studio at the end of her residency, a chance for the community to view her works and practice.
